The 7th annual GEF essay contest sponsored by The Rotary Club of Goochland is officially starting up! The essay contest is open to all 4th and 5th grade students and this year there will be 3 prizes at each school:
Most Creative - $100
Best Constructed - $100
Best Supports the Topic - $100
The essays should be 500 words or fewer and the submissions are due March 1st, 2024. The essay template and submission form can be found here: goochlandschools.org/gef-essay
The question for this year is: What is your biggest fear in life? Describe what you are afraid of and why. Has anything happened in your life that has made you feel this way?
Good luck to all of our 4th and 5th grade students!

A big shoutout to our dedicated school principals who inspire, guide, and shape the future every day. Your commitment to education makes a lasting impact. GCPS has the best principals in the business! Thank you for all that you do!

What an amazing afternoon! Our 3rd-5th graders met author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce, who spoke about how he became interested in drawing comics. He was such an awesome presenter and we just know that our students will be inspired to write and draw their own stories! Special thanks to the bbgb bookstore for this special opportunity. #weRrandolph

Read A True Home chapter 3 tonight and learn more about the Heartwood Hotel. Trivia questions for both chapters 2 and 3 will be asked during morning announcements on Thursday. #GoochlandReads

We hope that you enjoyed reading the beginning of this year's Goochland Reads selection, A True Home. Last night, Mona discovered a majestic tree and when she touched the carving of the heart, a secret door opened. Don't forget to read Chapter 2: The Acorn Festival tonight!

The 2024 Goochland Reads selection is A TRUE HOME, the first book in the Heartwood Hotel series written by Kallie George! Read chapter 1 tonight and discover the grandest hotel in Fernwood Forest, where animals come from far and wide for safety, luxury, and comfort.

Roadrunners celebrated the last day of school with a "Happy HOWLidays" House Day! Volunteers from Goochland Pet Lovers helped to run the stations. Students wrote letters to help pets get adopted, made toys for dogs and cats, ran relay races, and worked together on a team-building activity. We also got an opportunity to meet the authors of The Shelter Gang and Their Secret Adventure, Richard and Kathy Verlander! Thanks to the RES Heart Committee for helping to plan this special HOWLiday for us!

Happy Holidays from our school family to yours!

Congratulations to our MP2 Champions, the SKY RUNNERS! #weRrandolph

Congratulations to the Randolph Teacher of the Year, MS. LAWSON! This incredibly kindhearted and dedicated third grade teacher has been a central part of our school for many years. Ms. Lawson's passion for teaching and learning is evident every single day. We are thrilled that she is being recognized for her hard work and optimism.

Mr. Powers wanted everyone to know how much he appreciated the trees loaned to Randolph. They were the perfect backdrop for the Chorus performance and the 2nd grade winter program. If you loaned one to us, please stop by RES to pick it up as soon as possible. Thank you again!

Happy Holiday,

Thank you to Mrs. Horn, Mrs. Barefoot-Reid, Mr. Newman, and Mr. Wright (not pictured), for your invaluable collaboration on the GCPS School Board. Special thanks to Leah, our student board rep, for her valuable contributions and student voice. Grateful for your support!

The theme for the MP2 House Day is "Happy HOWLidays - Caring for Animals in our Community." We need your help! If you have any old t-shirts at home, please send them to school. We will be using these on House Day to create dog toys to donate to the Goochland Pet Lovers organization. Students can bring the freshly washed shirts in to school and place in boxes underneath their House Boards by the school library.
