Field Day 2022
BES Field Day will take place THIS Friday, June 3rd! If you are able to volunteer to run a station or rotate with a class, please sign up to help here. Mr. Meiller has added a THURSDAY AFTERNOON time slot for anyone that is able to come by for a couple of hours to help prepare for Friday morning. This may include filling up balloons with air or water or setting up tents.
Please send your child to school Friday wearing their grade-level color shirt, which their teacher will tell you about, as well as plenty of water and sunscreen!
Cafeteria on Field Day
The Cafeteria will be accepting cash for adults ONLY on Field Day (this Friday, June 3rd). If you wish to purchase a lunch for the price of $4.50 we encourage you to put money on your student's lunch account. All BES students will receive a free meal.
Library Books
The end of the year is quickly approaching. Please help your student return any library books. Students will bring reminder slips home if they have books checked out.
Byrd Parent Group
We will hold one last BPG Meeting for the 2021-22 school year, IN PERSON! Please mark your calendar and plan to attend TONIGHT, Tuesday, May 31 at 6:30pm at BES to discuss the activities BPG was part of for the school year and how BPG can get more involved in the upcoming school year! We need your input!

Yearbooks
Byrd Yearbooks are in and will be distributed to your child next week. If you would like to purchase a yearbook there are a limited number left! Get one now before they sell out.The cost is $18 and we accept cash or checks. Checks can be made out to Byrd. Please send your payment to the Byrd office.

Please continue to notify the office to report reasons for all absences! There are many different ways to report your student’s absence.

Early Dismissals
If you have to make a change to your child's transportation arrangements for the day, please notify the office by 1:00 p.m. (emergencies only). It is important that your child arrives home safely and it is not always possible to notify the teacher's or a child of a change to how they will be transported.

Free Summer Kindergarten Readiness Opportunity for Incoming Kindergarten Students
The state of Virginia is a recipient of a grant received by the Waterford Upstart program. This FREE program provides a unique opportunity for families to participate in the Waterford Upstart Summer Learning Path to support home-based kindergarten readiness delivered via technology over the summer. This program is available for families who will have a kindergarten eligible child in fall 2022. Families are encouraged to sign up soon, as the program kicks off on June 6.
