We are so excited to welcome our Eagles back to school tomorrow!

This weekly message will have a lot of important information since we are just kicking off the school year.  Please see the weekly email message for easy access to links and flyers mentioned in this message.

Nurse Britton would like to remind all families to check over the Health Screening Questions on the attached form every day.  Also, everyone must wear a mask when inside the building.  Please bring a water bottle to refill throughout the day!

If you are wondering about school arrival or dismissal, then please pay attention to the following information:

School doors will open tomorrow for students at 7:45.  Staff will be available to help all students get safely into school and find their classrooms.  Should you arrive after 8:00am, please escort your child into the main office to be signed in.  Our dismissal will begin at 2:30.

For those families that will be driving their students to and from school, please be patient and alert as you enter the car rider lanes. The beginning of the year can always be quite hectic in the parking lot as we have a larger amount of car traffic, including families that are new to BES!

All cars will enter the school parking lot in the entrance to the left of the school. Once in the parking lot, you be directed where to drive your car. You will then follow the flow of cars toward the car rider loop towards the back of the school.

In the mornings, we will have multiple adults directing the flow of traffic and assisting students out of their cars. PLEASE WAIT TO MOVE YOUR CAR UNTIL THE CARS IN FRONT OF YOU MOVE AS WELL. No one should pull their car around another car in the loop.

In the afternoons, you will give your child’s name to the adult that is working in the parking lot. She will call your student’s name over the radio and they will be brought to the sidewalk. Once your child is in their vehicle, please wait until the cars in front of you move forward before you do.

PLEASE do everything that you can to make sure your child’s teacher knows how your student is getting home in the afternoons! If there are any changes to that, please tell the school by 12:00 noon.

The following is important information about iPad distribution:

Byrd students in grades 3-5 will receive their iPad on Monday, August 30.  Students in grades PreK-2 will keep iPads at school this year on a classroom cart. In order for your student to get their iPad on Monday, August 30, we must have a completed Acceptable Use Permission on file.  Please log into PowerSchool to complete the AUP form. You are able to reset your PowerSchool password by clicking on the blue link "Forgot Username or Password?".  It is best to complete the AUP on a laptop or computer. If you need assistance with your username for PowerSchool please contact Ms. Greenlee, in the front office (804) 556-5380.

Students in grades 3-5, who have paid $20 insurance fee will be able to bring their iPad home.  Please  pay the insurance fee here.  Students in PreK-2nd grade will not pay an insurance fee since their iPad will stay at school on a classroom cart. If you need assistance making a payment, please contact Ms. Wroten, in the front office (804) 556-5380.

Kajeet requests for students bringing devices should be submitted here

All students will receive free breakfast and lunch this year.  You can access the elementary menu on our Goochland Schools website.  You are welcome to pack a lunch and snack as an alternative to eating the school food.

We are looking forward to our best year ever!
