Summer Reading Program Flyer

Dear Parents,

We all know that summer is a great time for families to spend time together and recharge their “batteries”!

One way you can spend time together is by reading as a family. Just a few minutes of reading a day will not only provide some free quality time together, but it also keeps your child’s reading skills sharp and ready for learning in the fall. Click on the link below for grade level specific reading choice boards for each grade level.

Additionally, a number of parents have asked about their child using Lexia over the summer on their own personal electronic devices. If you are interested in having your child use Lexia over the summer, please reach out to Michael Tomlin at mtomlin@glnd.k12.va.us to receive directions on how to log your child into Lexia. The process for logging into your child’s personal device will be different than what they are used to on their school issued devices.

If you have a student going into 4th or 5th grade, then please encourage your student to start reading from the Reading Olympics list for next year. You can view the list HERE. These books are available at the public library.

Lastly, check out the Goochland library’s page for a variety of free family reading activities. We hope you will consider signing up for the summer reading program!  Tomorrow is the library’s Summer Reading Program Kick-Off Event!  It is always lots of fun, and it is free!

If your child completes the summer reading program or one of the reading choice boards, then please let the school know so we can recognize and celebrate our readers when we return to school!
