From December 16-20, our school hosted a fun and inspiring Reading Spirit Week designed to encourage students to stay motivated and excited about reading over winter break. The week was packed with activities to celebrate the joy of reading and to foster a love for books among students of all ages.
One of the highlights of the week was the presence of guest readers who visited classrooms to share their favorite stories. These special visitors brought characters to life and sparked imaginations, reminding students of the adventures waiting in the pages of a good book.
Throughout the week, students also had the chance to select free books to take home and enjoy during the break. The free book giveaway ensured that everyone had access to new stories to dive into, helping to keep their reading momentum strong.
To keep things festive and fun, we held themed dress-up days that reminded us why we read. From "Green Day" to "Pajama Day," students showcased their creativity and enthusiasm while highlighting the importance of reading in our lives.
An Accelerated Reading Challenge encouraged students to track their reading progress, with many meeting and exceeding their goals. To celebrate these successes, reading parties were held where students could relax, celebrate accomplishments, and enjoy time with their peers.
The week wrapped up with a magical courtyard sing-along and story activity. Students gathered to enjoy a festive story reading and sing their favorite holiday tunes with our beloved Ms. Watts. To make the event even sweeter, a hot cocoa bar was set up for everyone to enjoy sponsored by the BPG.
Reading Spirit Week was a fantastic way to end the year on a high note and inspire students to carry their love of reading into the new year. Thank you to everyone who helped make this week so memorable!
