HAPPY SUNDAY, BYRD EAGLES! Our full update is here
It is hard to believe that this is our LAST Sunday update of the year.
From our family to yours, we hope all of our Eagles have a happy and safe summer!
Remember, the last day of school is on Wednesday, June 9!
Even though we only have 3 days left this newsletter is full of great information as you head into the summer. Please read and save the information you need!
It’s never too early to be prepared! The first day of the 2021-2022 school year is Monday, August 23. In our full update you can find a link that will take you to a list of the supplies that your child will need to start school next year.
Summer Send Off for Virtual Families:
If you signed up last week to pick up a Summer Send-off packet—your packet will be available in the front office this week on Monday and Tuesday from 1:30-3:30. If you are unable to get your back they will stay in the office through the end of the week- just give your child’s name!
In-person students brought home books and BES water bottles along with some information to share with their adult on the importance of reading this summer! Students also learned how to use Little Free Libraries. Did you know that we have one located right outside of BES? There are many throughout Goochland County (Leeks Mills, Hidden Rock, YMCA), surrounding counties and around the entire country! So, whether you are staying home this summer or traveling we encourage your child to read and then return books to the Little Free Library in order to take new books to keep them excited about reading this summer! Another way to help your child read is to visit our GCPS Bookmobile this summer coming in July. Your family can help by donating new or gently used books. You can drop those off at any of our 3 elementary schools.
SUMMER READING HAS BEGUN WITH THE PAMUNKEY REGIONAL LIBRARY!
The theme for this year is Tails and Tales, and the program runs through August 31st. Primarily the program is online through READsquared, but a paper option is available for those that are limited in accessing the internet. In our full update you can register and look at the calendar for some make and take options the library is offering. If anyone needs the paper version it is available at the public library. You can also check out a promotional video and hear a fun story to kick off your summer of reading fun! Those are linked in our full update as well. You can also find some easy summer reading tips in our update
BULLDOG BASKETBALL CAMP
Last, BULLDOG BASKETBALL CAMP still has spots available for children ages 8-15 for the June 10 and 11 camp. Camp runs from 8-12pm and the cost is $75. The link to sign up and pay are in our weekly update.
