Weekly Update: February 8-12

• Friday February 12 will now be an instructional day for students instead of a scheduled professional work day for staff.
• This week we will have a BES Spirit week:

Monday-Love the USA- wear red, white and blue

Tuesday- Love of Comfort-Pajama Day

Wednesday-Love of Learning-Wear 100 to celebrate the 100th day of school!

Thursday- Love BES- show your school spirit

Friday-Love for Valentines Day-wear red, white and pink.

• 5th grade families- did you miss the GMS curriculum fair? Not to worry, we have the recording linked in our weekly update for you to watch!
• Our local Community Action grant has funds to assist income eligible parents with the cost of after care. Goochland Parks and Recreation department has an afterschool care program that qualifies as well as any licensed child care provider.” Click here for income guidelines and application form.
• February 17th -The Gifted Advisory Committee is hosting a virtual panel on Understanding the Social and Emotional Needs of Gifted and High Ability Students. More info can be found here

Elementary Virtual Family Nights Coming Up We have a very exciting few months coming up! All 3 of Goochland’s elementary schools have partnered with the Goochland YMCA to bring our youngest students virtual family fun nights. We are offering 3 different classes for February, March and April. These events will be Live Streamed and the link for this will be shared with students on the day of the event. You will join using your student device. Your family can choose to attend one, two or all three nights. All three schools will also have event bags to go along with each night if your family would like to pick up a bag of items for the night during the week leading up to the event- but a bag is not required to participate. In order to plan for the events we are asking families to RSVP now for each of the Family Nights. Your family will only need to return ONE RSVP indicating which nights you will join. You can fill out your RSVP online here or by returning the paper copy that came home on Friday. RSVPs are due by February 12. We cant wait to see you there!
