We hope you enjoyed the weekend, and extended break for students!
BES is looking forward to the Book Fair, which starts next Monday, and the Fall Festival on Tuesday, October 25th. Please consider entering the Chili Cook-off and donating a bag of candy for the event. The event is free, but there is a $10 entry fee for the Chili Cook-off, a $25 prize for the best chili, and the proceeds will go to the Christmas Mother. There is also a $5 tasting/voting fee that will allow you to taste all the chili and get a bowl of their favorite one. A flier about the event went home this week, and it is posted on our school website. We look forward to seeing you at one of the most anticipated school events of the year!
This week Chess Club and the Junior Master Gardeners Club will continue to meet on Tuesday. After school enrichment classes will continue on Wednesdays. Classes end at 4:15 on Wednesday. Please be prompt to pick up your children.
All GCPS students and staff, in observance Bullying Prevention month, are asked to wear orange Wednesday, October 19th, for Unity Day.
Now for a few business reminders. Report cards will go home on Wednesday this week. Picture proofs for school pictures were sent home, and orders are due by October 21st. Also, calls to the office for transportation changes must be made before 2pm on regular dismissal days and 11 am on early dismissal days.
Ms. Watts would like to remind students that reflection projects are due this Friday, October 21st! Please turn your projects in to Ms. Watts. We are looking forward to seeing all of your wonderful projects – and thank you for sharing your talents!
In order to have a table to sell goods at the school Farmer’s Market please turn in your vendor application by next Monday. Space is limited.
The volunteer group at school is planning to start duty free lunch for teachers on October 27th, and is in need of more help. If you would like to volunteer for this service on Thursdays from 10:45-1, then please call Kristi Bunovich at (804) 787-0886.
BES will be holding it’s annual Grandparents Day luncheon on Friday, November 18th. A flier with information was sent home last week with your student. If you plan to attend, please send the reservation portion of the flyer back by October 28th.
