We hope you had a nice weekend, and are ready for an exciting week ahead!
Classrooms are now collecting plastic water bottles for our recycling drive. The class that collects the most by Earth Day on April 22nd will win extra recess!
Students will take home report cards this week. Noetic Math will take place on Wednesday, and 2nd graders will continue to participate in the Learn to Swim program. Students should come to school wearing their bathing suites. This Thursday Kindergarten Registration will take place all day until 4:30 in the Library Media Center. Students planning on attending kindergarten or the BES prek program next year should come to school to register.
Three important things are happening this Friday. First, If your child is interested in attending STEM Camp this summer, then please return the permission slip by this Friday. Students brought home fliers, and the flier is also posted on our school website. Second, the Goochland Fine Arts Festival will take place at Goochland High School in the cafeteria. Byrd students will have art on display. Everyone is welcome to admire our students’ artistic talent! Finally, the Flying Squirrels baseball game for the Go Nutz for Reading program is this Friday night. If you did not purchase tickets or earn tickets for reading books, then you can get tickets at the box office before the game starts.
Please mark your calendar to come to school this Saturday, April 16th, from 9-12 for our community clean up day in the courtyard! It will be a rewarding experience to volunteer your time to beautify our outdoor learning space!
Next week our school will host another book fair! The Book Fair will last from April 18th to the 22nd. Classes will visit the Book Fair during the school day. We look forward to seeing everyone at school the night of Tuesday, April 19th for the Peace, Love, and Books family event. Come to school with your entire family from 5:30-7 to eat dinner, participate in numerous craft stations, listen to stories, get groovy at a dance fever party, visit the Book Fair, and then stay for the PTA meeting at 7:00. The Book Fair is a fund raiser, so every book purchased helps our school! Also, if you are interested in volunteering at the Book Fair then please complete the form posted on our school website. Information about the Peace, Love, and Books event is also posted on the website.
