Reminders for the Week of March 21st
Hello Byrd Families,
We hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the PTA, All County Chorus, and the silent auction last week.
This is the last week before spring break. There are many parties and fun events happening in classrooms this week. Remind students to checkout a good book before heading home for break. Friday is an early dismissal day for students.
On Monday various 4th and 5th graders will travel to Randolph Elementary School to participate in the Reading Olympics tournament. Students need to make sure they wear their shirt, bring a jacket, and also bring their lunches.
Chess club will continue on Tuesdays.
Friday is the final day to turn in forms for the Go Nutz for Reading program to get tickets to the Flying Squirrels baseball game on April 15th.
We are officially one month away from the spring book fair. Mark your calendars for a fun family event on April 19th.
We hope you all enjoy a relaxing and fun spring break!
Please lend a hand in the courtyard!
Now that the weather is warmer many teachers would like to get students outside to conduct hands-on learning investigations. We are in particular need of donations of plants or seeds, potting soil, compost, gardening tools (specifically wheelbarrows, gardening hoes, and shovels), and your own expertise if you would like to work with students! If you are dividing plants in your yard this spring, we would gladly take your plants! We would love to have the help of parents that would like to help students learn how to plant and tend to gardens. If you are interested in making a donation you can call the school, email 2nd grade teacher Holly Swift at hswift@glnd.k12.va.us, or complete the form we have posted on the website. We plan to have a community clean up day on Saturday, April 16th, to get the courtyard into tip top shape for learning activities.
If you can help in the courtyard, then please complete the form on this link!
